Upcoming San Diego Events We’re Excited For

The Olives are thrilled when summer rolls around because our schedules fill up with exciting client events! Whether you’re interested in supporting local charities or you’re an avid art collector, we have a few suggestions we know you’ll love.

Here’s a roundup of upcoming events we can’t wait to attend:

Arts & Culture

The 14th annual ArtWalk @ Liberty Station, summer’s fine arts festival, will take place at Ingram Plaza on Saturday, August 10 and Sunday, August 11. Experience fine art, music and interactive art projects at the free event all weekend long. ArtWalk @ Liberty Station’s sister festival, ArtWalk Carlsbad will also return to Armada Drive to bring immersive art experiences, visual arts and live music to North County on Saturday, September 21 and Sunday, September 22.

Charity Events

Little Italy’s biggest party, Ferragosto, will return for its final year with the theme “Pirates Invade Sicily,” on Saturday, August 17 from 6:00 p.m. to midnight, with a VIP reception starting at 5:00 p.m. Held in Amici Park, guests can expect dancing, a casino with fun games, two live bands, amazing food and a shipload of fun with multiple immersive surprises!

One Love Movement will bring the community together to connect and give back at the 8th AnnualCharity Yoga Event on Saturday, September 21 at Waterfront Park. Guests can enjoy a yoga class along with a guided meditation, a live concert and talk with Trevor Hall, a Kids Corner and the first-ever Wellness Garden.

Emilio Nares Foundation (ENF), a nonprofit that helps families navigate their child’s journey through cancer, will host the 16th annual Harvest for Hope fundraiser on Sunday, September 22 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Liberty Station’s BRICK. Harvest for Hope aims to raise money for low-income, underprivileged families whose children are battling cancer. The annual event features some of the most prominent chefs in San Diego who will create unique dishes paired with wine and beer, music, and a live and silent auction.

The La Jolla and Carmel Valley units of Rady Children’s Hospital will host the Second Annual beWELL Fitness Fair on Sunday, September 29 from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. at La Jolla High School. This family-friendly fundraiser features a fitness boot camp, yoga class, local food and beverage vendors, live entertainment and an opportunity drawing!

Sports

The fast-moving game of stickball will take over the streets of Little Italy for the Labor Day Stickball Westcoast Invitational hosted by the Little Italy Association on Saturday, August 31 and Sunday, September 1 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Top stickball teams from New York, Puerto Rico and San Diego will compete for San Diego’s most prominent prize, the Jillie Trophy!

Professional Development

On Saturday, September 21, 93 year old world-renowned speaker and bestselling author, Swami A. Parthasarathy will present a lecture entitled Governing Business & Relationships at The Conrad Prebys Performing Arts Center at 10:30 a.m. Hosted by Vedanta Institute Los Angeles and a group of local supporters, the free event will introduce the philosophy of Vedanta, share knowledge on the practice of intellectual development and teach individuals how they can elevate their lives and achieve the ultimate goal of Self-realization.

Architecture

The San Diego Architectural Foundation’s 43rd Orchids & Onions Awards Ceremony at the historic US Grant Hotel will take place on Thursday, October 3. The Orchids & Onions program brings San Diegans together to decide which parts of the built environment make our city a better place to live. The Awards Ceremony will be a thought-provoking night of commentary and discussion about the new crop of projects, spaces and places in San Diego. Guests can sip on delicious drinks and indulge in tasty appetizers while enjoying the fun-filled awards presentation.
